Forse groei boekingen op Nederlandse cruisemarkt in eerste periode van 2011
De cruisevakantie blijft onverminderd aan populariteit winnen. Dit blijkt uit de cijfers van de Dutch Cruise Council (DCC) met de boekingsresultaten voor 2011, die vandaag zijn bekend gemaakt. In de periode t/m 1 april 2011 zijn 57.019 cruisepassagiers geboekt. Dat is een groei van 32,8% ten opzichte van dezelfde periode vorig jaar, toen 42.921 cruiseboekingen werden gemaakt. Ook voor de komende maanden zijn de verwachtingen zeer positief, de DCC verwacht binnen afzienbare tijd 100.000 Nederlandse cruisepassagiers per jaar te realiseren. Temeer omdat cruises ook steeds vaker als last-minute optie worden meegenomen in de keuze van de vakantieganger.

Haarlem is a favourite destination for boating people. They appreciate the measures taken here for the safety of river traffic. These are two of the conclusions reached in a report entitled “Recreational traffic on the Spaarne” published in November 2010.

Enkhuizen, town of harbours
The historical town of Enkhuizen, situated on the banks of the IJsselmeer, recently concluded the project ‘Tourists over Water’. The council's investments in this project were considerably and were mainly aimed at accommodating river cruisers. With the completion of the extension of the Harlingersteiger and Gependam harbours, this goal has been achieved!

Inaugural journey SS Antoinette to Hoorn

AIDA Sol becomes 1000th ship to enter the cruise port of Amsterdam
A milestone for the youngest AIDA ship as guest of honor: AIDAsol was recently the 1000th ship to enter the cruise port of Amsterdam. In a festive ceremony on Saturday, the Mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan, handed Captain Deflef Harms the key of the city. A plaque was affixed to the bridge of the ship at the same time. The Mayor was given a portrait photograph of the christening of AIDAsol by the Captain.
